My Nan is in the hospital for the second time in as many weeks. Nothing I can do for her or my Grandad over here. I hope they are both ok.

The rats are in, but the gobs are still in transit.

We went out for archery again on Sunday. I finally managed to hit the 60m target, which made my day. Getting a bulls-eye on an uphill 45m target was pretty cool too. I think that this is something I would like to do more regularly.

Am enjoying a 2 day weekend after a long week working out by Fuji. The bus ride out there never gets stale. The mountains, Autumn leaves and Kawaguchiko are simply wonderful. The freezing train ride home is less than pleasant however.

I have started painting again. I just finished my first skink, and may put up a pic of it when I get around to charging the camera.

Lisa has a friend coming for a visit this week, which has proven to be adequate motivation for us to finally get some lighting upstairs. After almost a year here, it is about bloody time.

I wore my Doc Martens to work on Wednesday because it was raining. As I walked to the bus stop, I thought about when I bought them, and realised that they are older than all of my students.

Yesterday, one of my attention hungry students came up to me to tell me something or other. And, as he does, leaned right in close to tell me about it. I noticed that he had an eye booger. It was bright green, looking almost radioactive. As the lesson went on, he continued to come up to me to tell me things, every time, this eye booger was bigger than the last. Wiggy.

I've just finished what has been a fantastic weekend. I actually can't remember what I did with Sunday (perhaps Lisa can refresh my mind there). Monday was the aforementioned bike ride and picnic. Tuesday contained Karaoke and katsu. Yesterday we met up with some friends, visited the katsu place again (where we got free soft drinks for bringing our own chopsticks - a big plus in our book), went bowling, visited the batting center, and finished it off with karaoke and chess.

I have a very easy 3 day week ahead of me (two classes today and tomorrow, and an office day on Saturday), followed by a pre-release on Sunday.

Fun day today. Went for a ride along the river. Bought some cheese and crackers, and had a little picnic. Ate Ume soft cream. Beat the Elite Four.

It is a rather warm afternoon, so I decided to take a stroll down to the local Lawson's to treat myself to an ice cream. The ice cream eating experience was a quite nostalgic one. It tasted just like one of those biscuits from back home that has raspberry jam sandwiched between two biscuits. Lisa looked them up - Arnott's Raspberry shortcake. Graeme used to have them at his place back when he just started going out with my mum.

Off to try get the new Pokemon games shortly. I was late in reserving a copy, so I have to rely on getting there early. tsk tsk.

I'm quite excited about it, as it is a return to the game that brought me the most amount of pleasure in the franchise. There should be plenty of nostalgic joy to be had.

I have a rare 3 day weekend to top it off!

Experienced my first Yamanashi earthquake today. (Well it was actually out around Tokyo bay, but it registered 4 here).

Lisa tells me they are predicting a big earthquake in Tokyo in the next month.

I had a dream last night that I was playing tag with polar bears. On play equipment. In the forest.

I've been back from Yakushima for almost a week now, and haven't written anything about the trip yet. How lazy of me.

We'll be heading out the door shortly to catch the 4:15 bus to the airport. From there we fly to Kagoshima for a night, and then on to Yakushima for a week of camping and the solar eclipse!

We went out for a round of archery last weekend. Good times were had. I made friends with a few bugs, and now have 3 lumps reminding me of the time we shared.
